Main plot
Dawnguard
As soon as you reach level 10, talk to any guard, innkeeper, you will be told that the ancient order of vampire hunters of the Dawnguard is being revived. You can also get this information from the wandering orc Dorak (English original Durak), which you can meet in any major city or on large highways, if the guards did not have time to convey to you the information about the revival of the order. And so, you have to go to Fort Dawnguard, located in the southeast of Skyrim. Go out of the riften and follow the marker that will lead you to a small cave. After passing through it, you will find yourself in the valley of the fort. Follow the road and you will soon see him. Along the way, you will meet the peasant Agmeir, who is also tormented by the desire to join the ranks of the Guard. Entering the fort, you will witness a brief dialogue between Isran (the head of the Dawnguard) and Stendarr's lookout Tolan. Tolan will tell you that the vampires have destroyed the Hall of the Watch, then Izran will deal with you and Agmeir. He will accept you immediately and even allow you to wander around the fort in search of free equipment. You won't find much, but a little is better than nothing. Most importantly, you will get a new powerful small arms in the game - a crossbow (so far the simplest steel one that shoots with similar bolts). You can safely steal shells for him from Agmeir, pulling them out of the boxes while he is practicing shooting. Another 45 pieces can be obtained from Dorak for free if you find him in the vicinity of the fortress (you can also get a second crossbow from him, which can then be given to a companion). This will complete this task and immediately begin the next one.
Awakening
Isran will immediately invite you to prove yourself in the order. Watcher Tolan will continue his tale of their order's defeat in the war against the vampires. According to him, the reason for the mass attack of bloodsuckers on the Hall of the Watch was their recent discovery about the Crypt of the Night Void. He intends to go there on his own and avenge his brothers in the order. Isran will send you to help Tolan, because. it is necessary to find out what the vampires are looking for in this ancient crypt and, if possible, deliver it to the fort. The crypt is located south of Dawnstar in the vicinity of the sanctuary of Mehrunes Dagon. In the first location called the Crypt, there will be nothing interesting, just an ordinary cave with monsters and vampires, get rid of all enemies, find the lever that opens the main grate and go to the next location (our friend Tolan will already be killed by this time, revenge failed) . There, at the very beginning, you will hear the dialogue of the higher vampire Lokil with the sentinel Stendarr Adalvald about information about the Crypt, after which Lokil will kill him, because. will not receive the necessary information from the sentinel. We go down into the hall, sentence all vampires to death and then solve the puzzle.
To get started, click on the button in the center of the circle, a spike will pop out of it and pierce your Dovakin's palm. The blood activates the braziers on different circles. These braziers can be moved from one circle to another. With the correct position of the brazier, it will light up with a blue flame, the path to it will be engulfed in the same flame. Your task is to light all the braziers so that the path from the blue flame leads to the center of the hall. This will be followed by a slight transformation of the floor. a large stone pillar with a lid will come out of the center, from which the girl Serana will fall out. She will turn out to be a vampire, but not hostile towards you. Talk to her, she will tell you a little, because. does not yet trust you, and the centuries spent in captivity have somewhat tired her. Serana will ask you to escort her to Castle Volkihar (it is located on an island west of Solitude; you can get to the island by boat from the pier of Coldharbour. Get out of the cave, killing a couple of gargoyles and a draugr warlord near the wall of words of power (the first word of the cry "Life Drain") and thus complete the quest.

After reaching Castle Volkihar following the route described in the previous quest, you will find yourself in the main hall, where the head of the clan, Lord Harkon, after a brief dialogue with Serana, will offer you a "mercy" to become a member of the clan and receive the power of a vampire lord. If you refuse - continue the passage of the addon for the Guardian of Dawn, if you agree - you will pass for vampires (drink blood, turn vampire people, kill other apostate vampires and eventually destroy the Guardian of the Dawn itself).

- the ability to become a vampire lord (yes, you don’t lose this feature forever when joining the ranks of the Guard, it just becomes available only at a certain point in the story; all the possibilities of the vampire lord form will be preserved, but the jewelry sets and the power of the hematite bowl will cannot be used).
Clan Volkihar
-opportunity-to become a vampire lord immediately (at the same time, Harkon will give you something like a lesson);
-possibility of summoning gargoyles;
- the ability to enhance vampire properties with the help of the magic of the hematite bowl;
-a set of unique jewelry that increases the power of vampire skills;
-mortals will not attack you even if you are in the last stage of hunger.
Depending on the chosen side, the next task will vary.
Dawnguard
New Order
We return to Fort Dawnguard and tell Izran about Seran and what we saw in Volkihar Castle. After hearing this, this stern warrior will decide to strengthen the ranks of the order. You have to find the female engineer Sorin Zhurar and the seasoned hunter Ganmar. Sorin will be in the lands of the Reach, near the stronghold of Druaddah and the shrine of Peryite. She will go to the fort after you give her the Dwemer gyroscope (you can either take it from her lost bag, which lies next to the stone by the river, or give it away the one that was found somewhere else in your travels). Gunmar will be located near a random cave. He will go to the fort only after you help him defeat a huge bear. When you visit both of them, return to Isran. By that time, Serana will be waiting for you in the fort.
Reward
-Sorin and Ganmar can sell you a lot of useful items and full sets of Dawnguard armor; you can buy crossbows and bolts from Sorin.
-Sorin and Ganmar can give you special tasks for which you can get gold and valuable items.

Castle Volkihar
Hematite bowl
After receiving the power of the vampire lord from Harkon, he will instruct you to go to the mareti garan and say the cherished phrase "the time has come." We fulfill. Mareti will give us a brief excursion about the hematite bowl and lead us to it. Near the bowl, Vingalmo and Ortjolf will be waiting for us, who will be very surprised that the ritual of filling the bowl was entrusted to us. Now we need to go with the bowl to the Red Water den, fill the bowl from the source there and add vampire blood. The den is located east of Ivarstead. It really is a den, with a bunch of sick people suffering from skooma fever all over the place. Your task is to get into the far part of the brothel. The gate is locked. You can steal it from the hostess of the establishment or from the gatekeeper, you can also take the key by force. There is a third option - buy skooma, drink it, after which you will be kidnapped for the purpose of looting. Either way, make your way to the inner sanctum to the red spring. Fill the bowl, at the exit you will meet Stalf and Solonia, who serve Ortjolf and Vingalmo, respectively. They want to kill you, but it will also become clear from the dialogue that they also don't mind killing each other. Therefore, if you are of a low level, then let one of them kill the other, and you will already deal with the winner. We take the blood of a vampire from one of the corpses and return to the Volkihar castle (at the exit you can finish off the staff of the brothel, if you have not done this before). Tell Mareti that Vingalmo and Ortjolf sent assassins to you, he will say that this is in the order of things, but Harkon is pleased with you.
Reward
-You will be able to use a hematite bowl, which will teach your ability to steal life and mana from enemies during vampire attacks for 24 hours;

Prophet
If you play for the Dawnguard, then by the time you return to the fort, Serana will be waiting for you there. Isran will let you talk, she will tell you that her father (Harkon) is crazy and that you need to decipher it no matter what. ancient scroll who was buried with her. To do this, you need to find the priest of the moth.
If you play behind Castle Volkihar, then Harkon will gather the entire clan in the main hall, make a speech and say that it is time to read an ancient scroll in order to fulfill a certain prophecy on an eclipse of the sun. But the scrolls can only be read by the priests of the moth, one of them has recently appeared in Skyrim and must be found.
Further execution this quest and the entire storyline will follow the same pattern, with the only difference being that either Volkihar vampires or representatives of the Dawnguard will interfere with you, depending on the side you choose.
We take Serana with us and go to collect information about the priest of the moth. You can do this with innkeepers, cab drivers, city guards and magicians at the college of Winterhold. One way or another, we learn that the priest was in the Dragon Bridge, and there we learn that he recently left with guards along the southern road. We follow this road until we come across a broken wagon. We search the vampire's body, take the note and read it. Traces lead to the Ancestral Shelter Cave (located near the scene of the incident, you can easily find it by the marker). Inside the cave, your opponents will be either members of the order or vampires. At their leader (the guard Vanik or the vampire Malkus) you will find a special stone that must be placed in a special recess in the same hall in order to remove the magical barrier behind which the priest of the moth languishes. As soon as the barrier falls, Dexion Ivik (that's the name of the priest) will attack you. It will be enough for the Dawn Guard to simply beat him up so that he starts talking to you. The Volkihars will then have to use the Vampiric Seduction talent on him (don't miss the priest, the talent only works once a day!), and then bite him, making the priest his trell. Remember that the talent of seduction appears only on the second day of fasting. Then we order the priest to go to the Volkihar castle or to the fort of the Dawnguard, depending on who you are going through. Then we arrive at the right place ourselves and observe the ritual of reading the scroll. Dexion will decipher part of the prophecy, and other parts will be in other scrolls that you have to find in the following quests.
Looking for a scroll
You have to find 2 ancient scrolls in order to finally decipher the prophecy. The first of them is the Dragon Scroll, you must find it according to the main plot of the game during the "Beyond the Ordinary" quest. If you have already completed the main quest and sold the scroll to Ugar gro-Shub at the College of Winterhold, then you should buy the artifact back for 4000 septims (if you are an archmage, then for 2000).
The second scroll - Blood, should be with the mother of Serana Valerika, who disappeared without a trace immediately after she hid her daughter from Harkon in the Crypt of the Night Void. The next 2 quests will be dedicated to finding this powerful vampire.
In pursuit of an echo
Before imprisoning Serana in the Crypt of the Night Void, Valerika told her that she would hide where Harkon wouldn't even think of looking for her. During a short dialogue, it will become clear that Valerika hid right in Volkihar castle. The old saying immediately comes to mind: "If you want to hide a thing best of all, put it in the most visible place." Serana recalls that Valerika had a garden in the courtyard of the castle, a place that Harkon never visited. We leave for the Volkihar castle, go around it on the left side and go down to the underground room, which is something between a basement and a crypt. There you will be attacked by skeletons, rats and gargoyles. There are practically no traps in the dungeon. There will be only one insidious place at the fork, but Serana will tell you the right safe path. As a result, you will find yourself in the courtyard. Serana was right, the place was obviously abandoned. The moon clock, the mechanism of which is broken, will immediately catch your eye. Serana will once again express a clever idea - to try to fix the clock. On the main part of the clock, 3 marks with moon phases will be missing. All of them can be found in the vicinity:
- in a flower bed
-on the stairs in front of the entrance to one of the towers
-in the pond
When you find all 3 parts - mark them on the clock, then you will open the passage further. Make your way through the dungeon, killing all evil spirits. You have a long way to go, because being initially underground, you will have to climb almost to the very top of the castle to the balcony. There will be Valerika's secret laboratory. There will be a portal circle in the center of the lab, but it will be sealed. Serana will remember that her mother has long wanted to find a way to get into one of the planes of Oblivion, called the Cairn of Souls, from where you can draw an unlimited supply of soul stones and summon the most powerful undead. You need to open a portal. Serana will tell you to look for her mother's diary (look for a red-bound book). From it you will learn that Valerika managed to get into the Cairn of Souls, in order to open the portal you need to make a potion from the following unique ingredients:
-purified void salts
-shards of soul stones
- crushed bone meal
All this will need to be put in a container, near which Serana will be waiting for you. Once all the ingredients are in the container, Serana will add her blood to it, and the portal to the Cairn of Souls will open. Quest completed.
Note: If you are playing as the Dawnguard, then you will not enter the portal just like that. There are 2 options:
-Serana must perform a ritual to split off a piece of your soul (in this case, you will lose 30 units of health, mana and stamina);
-Allow Serana to make you a vampire (in this case, the representatives of the Guard will stop giving you individual tasks, but they will not get into a fight; to get the tasks of the Guard again, just heal from vampirism in any way).
Beyond death
Once in the Cairn of Souls, go straight all the time. Your opponents here will be a motley high undead: fallen, bone, misty and furious. You can return to Cairn as many times as you like, so if you are too lazy to wander around these hard-hitting expanses in search of adventure, then do not bother, but simply complete the main task. Having reached the wall with the central gate, which divides the Cairn into 2 parts, continue straight ahead. If you need to sell or buy something, then go a little to the right, there will be a merchant soul. However, he will sell things not for gold, but for the shoots of a unique plant that grows only in the Cairn of Souls (such funny tubular stalks, you won’t miss them for anything). These pods are very useful, because. temporarily grants immunity to the effects of huge soul gems that you will encounter if you explore the various strongholds on the outskirts of the location. And so, going straight all the time, you will get to the huge central citadel, where you will find Valerika. She will be skeptical of you, especially if you are not a vampire, but Serana will do everything to soften her mother's attitude towards you. As a result, Valerika will tell that the scroll is hidden in the fortress, but the entrance to it is blocked by a magical barrier supported by the Watchers - the supreme servants of the Ideal Lords (lords of the Cairn of Souls). Your task is to bypass the three citadels on the outskirts and kill the three Overseers. Just follow the markers. Getting to the top of one of the strongholds (to the Overseer) will be possible only through the well of souls, which will teleport you to the right place. If the Unrelenting Force shout is pumped, then you can simply throw the Overseer from the walls of his own fortress (on the Master or Legendary difficulty level, this most likely will not kill him). All Overseers wear a full set dragon armor and the same weapon (the weapon can be picked up later), so be careful, these are not weak opponents. After getting rid of the Watchers, return to Valerika. The barrier has fallen and the three of you can now safely pass through the gate into the inner part of the citadel, the so-called Burial Ground. Here you have to fight with the ancient dragon Durnevir (he is the same age as Alduin and Paarthurnax). The dragon itself is a plush opponent, it is not he who causes more problems, but the undead called by him (of which there will be quite a few). Durnevir himself owns the cry "Soul Rip". Together with Serana and Valerika, you will easily defeat him. Then the vampire mother will escort you to the scroll. She will thank you for helping Serana, she can sell you several potions (there are also unique ones), and she will cook one for you as a gift. However, she will refuse to return to Volkihar Castle for the time being. Harkon would most likely kill her. Promise her to come back for her when this is over and return to Tamriel. As soon as you return to Valerika's laboratory, the quest will close.
Note: when you leave the burial ground, you will meet Durnevir again, he will tell you the story of how he was deceived by the Ideal Lords, he will say that he will serve you, because. you defeated him in a fair fight and will teach you the "Summon Durnevir" shout. Each of the first three times you summon him in Tamriel, he will teach you the words to the Soul Rip Shout. Durnevir can be summoned in parallel with Odahviing, but not with any other summoned creature (Atronachs, Pets, Undead and Dremora).
Looking for disclosure
Once you have the Blood and Dragon Elder Scrolls, take them to Dexion Ivik to read. However, he will no longer be able to read them, for he became blind after reading the first scroll of Blood. And although Dexion himself is useless for you in this regard, he will tell you about an ancient ritual that will allow you to read the scroll.
Unseen visions
You need to go to the Ancestral Glade (south of Falkreath county between Anga's camp and the Blood Throne Fort), use a special scraper to collect the bark of an ancient song tree, then attract 7 flocks of moths to you, then stand in the center of the meadow and read the Blood scroll. From it you will learn about the ancient powerful artifact of the Falmer Aeriel's Luke and where it can be found. You have the most dangerous and exciting adventure in this addon. At the exit from the clearing, get rid of opponents (either vampires or Dawnguard) and get out to the surface. This quest will complete.

From reading the Elder Scroll, you have learned the approximate location of Auriel's bow. Go to the Limit and look for evening cave(southwest of the orc settlement of Mor-Kazgur). The cave is a network of narrow passages. When you reach a chamber with a hanging bridge over an underground lake into which a waterfall falls, remember this place and turn back to explore the cave. Pay attention to the corridors lit by torches. People used to stay here. In support of this, you can find the bodies of two Bretons and a note from which it follows that they waged a real war here with frost spiders and trolls. There are two ways to get to their camp:
-carefully explore the caves and use rings and torches that open passages between them (one of them leading to the lower levels will remain closed, because it can only be opened from the other side);
-return to the cave with the suspension bridge and try to pass through it, the boards will break and you will be transferred to the lower caves by a rapid flow of groundwater, one of the branches of which will lead you up.
It is the second way that you will have to act in order to move further on the assignment. Below in a large cave, which is something like an abandoned sanctuary, you will find a representative of the ancient race of snow elves (real Falmer, and not those skliz creatures that love to kidnap people in the vicinity of Dwemer ruins) Gelebor Pladin. He will tell you about the tragedy of his race, about the burial place of Auriel's bow, about Auriel himself and about his brother-traitor Archbishop Virter, whom you have to kill. However, getting to Wirter will be very difficult. You need to activate 5 wayshrines, for this you need to scoop water from each of them into a special jug (we will receive it as a gift from Gelebor). The first shrine is activated by Gelebor himself. Draw water and go to the only open portal which will take you to the location dark gorge.

The Dark Gorge is a cavern that connects the Evening Cave with the Forgotten Valley. This cave is dark, all the lighting in it rests on unique colors that close as soon as the GG is next to them, thereby plunging the surrounding space into darkness. Therefore, keep torches at the ready or sang Candlelight (Serana can cast it herself, although she does this not at your request, but when she pleases). Sooner or later you will reach the Pass. The main opponents here for you will be the Falmer (fallen) and Korus, although you can also meet unique valley saber and deer. As a result, in the hall with an underground lake, go up to the sanctuary of Illumination, where you will be met by the spirit of Prelate Sidanis. We draw water and go through the opened portal to Forgotten Valley.

Below will go detailed description Forgotten Valley, because without it, it will be very difficult to figure out the surroundings and you can miss a lot of interesting things. I will also list the locations of all the secret and important items needed both for the main plot of the addon and for individual quests.
vestibule
This is the first area of the valley where we exit the location Dark Gorge - Pass. A barely visible path to the left will take you up to the ice troll's nest. The road to the right will take you to a nameless cave, which is inhabited by a huge number of corus, and in its secret zone you can find a unique shell beetle (you can forge a unique helmet from its shell in the "miscellaneous" section). Continuing in the same direction, you will find the third wayshrine (Observations) and Prelate Atringa. We do a standard operation with water and activate another portal (you don’t need to go into it anymore). Climb down to the big path between the mountains and go towards the huge arch in the style of Falmer architecture. Behind them, a less pleasant picture awaits you, because. there will be cobwebs and aggressive arthropods everywhere. Continue along the path, making your way through the spiders, and in the end you will come out directly to the valley, or rather to the river (lovers of landscape screenshots will love it here).
Near river bank
First of all, approach the columns right before the exit from the spider passage. Search the chest and take the first book in the ancient Falmer language. Walk along the river to the left and you will find another wayshrine (Knowledge), where Prelate Selegrisias will meet you. If you continue along the river in the same direction, you will see a fault into which the river will flow. Jumping into this rift will take you to the location of the Dark Gorge Grotto, if you jump into the mountain waters there, you will emerge in an underground lake at the Dark Gorge Pass, which you passed through earlier. Return to the columns and now go right. If you go along the lower path (along the river), you will fall directly into the lair of the ice giant (a powerful enemy in close combat, it is better to deal with him from a distance). Take from his inventory amethyst paragon and other values. If you chose the upper path, then in the end you will find yourself on a plateau from which, on the opposite bank of the river, the Paragons' Platform will be visible. If you jump off this plateau, you will fall into the lair of the second frost giant, who owns sapphire paragon. I’ll tell you about the paragons themselves a little later, but for now I’ll pay attention to the far bank of the river.
Far side of the river
It represents the foot of a huge rock. There are two ways to get to the next areas of the valley. The first one is on the left side directly opposite the Sanctuary of Knowledge. He will lead you to the Great Lake. The second is on the right side, opposite the lair of the frost giant with amethyst paragone. It is a kind of staircase. Approximately in the middle of the ascent, you can turn off from it to the Paragon Square. But if you climb to the end, you will find yourself on the opposite shore of the Great Lake. Directly there will be a passage to the Grand Canyon, and next to it - the Sanctuary of Resolve (there you will be met by Prelate Narilor).

It is from it that numerous waterfalls flow, feeding the lower river, and the lake itself is fed from the Grand Canyon River. The reservoir is almost completely covered with a thick layer of ice, along which you can easily go to the center of the lake to the wall of words of power (the second word of the shout "Drain life"). Here you will have the first grand battle in the Valley, because as soon as you get close to the wall of words or just reach in the middle of the lake from under the ice from centuries of captivity, 2 noble twin dragons Naslarum and Voslarum will wake up (in latest version they will not appear if the player has not yet completed the "Dragon in the Sky" quest in Whiterun, in earlier ones they will appear anyway). After defeating them, return (or go for the first time) to the Sanctuary of Resolve, and then to the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon
This is the most boring part of the passage of the Valley, because. there are just clouds of fallen ones, there are already enough corus. But the main thing is a bunch of bridges on the air route, the path along which is very confusing, so be careful and turn your head 360 degrees. I advise you to go through the air route first, and then the lower one (along the river). Up on the left slope about 1/3 of the way in the paddock will sit a third frost giant caught by the fallen, who will have emerald paragon(whose activation on the site will lead Dovahkiin to the second ancient Falmer book). On the right slope there will be a gold mine, and a little further the upper entrance to the steep slope cave. The tent on the fourth stone bridge will contain the third ancient Falmer book. In the lower part of the canyon there will be a bunch of cocoons of flying corus, the lower entrance to the Steep slope cave (in it, as well as in the Cave of the Threshold, there will be a shell beetle in the secret room).
In the opposite part of the canyon there will be an entrance to the Ice Gorge.
Ice Gorge
A large cavern connecting the Grand Canyon and the top of the Valley. Inhabited by the Fallen, Korus, and Ice Trolls. In its corridors, you can easily get lost and wander in circles, so be careful. The passage you need will go up sharply right behind a large cluster of fallen tents.
Surroundings of the Inner Sanctuary
When you exit at the top of the Valley you will have 2 paths. First go left and back. After killing a few Fallen, you will reach the gate, behind which will be the lair of the 4th Frost Giant, holding diamond paragon. Then head back to the exit of Icefall and fight your way through the large Falmer settlement to a cleft in the rock. In the village, be sure to search the tents with mammoth skulls at the entrance, one of them will contain the fourth ancient Falmer book. And so, having reached the cleft, we will find the last wayshrine (Sanctuary of Radiance) with Prelate Edelbor. We collect water for the last time and move on. The gorge has a turn to the right and will eventually lead you to the abyss (at the bottom there will just be a village of the fallen that has just been passed). We go through the abyss along the luxurious bridge. Congratulations, you've made it to the Inner Sanctuary. Your suffering is nearing an end.
Inner Sanctuary
We go into the first room. There will be a pedestal against the wall on the left. Put a jug of water from the shrines on it. A secret door will open, behind which there will be the last ice giant and ruby paragon. Explore the halls further. There will be several more such pedestals, so do not forget to take the sacred jug. You won't have any enemies here until you wake them up. The fact is that frozen Falmer and Korus will only become aggressive if you take the item from their paws. So gradually you will reach the throne room of Archbishop Wirther. After a short dialogue, Wirter will revive all the frozen creatures in the hall, and when you defeat them, he will simply blow up everything around and run away. During a short cutscene, Serana will save you, after which you will rush in pursuit of Wirter, who has already spent a lot of strength. You will overtake him on the balcony. In general, he is not a strong opponent, but very nimble and constantly restores his health.
